defragmentation of the HardDrive basically means spring cleaning but without throwing anything out, while writing data on the hard drive, your computer does not have a tidy personality and it simply write the data whereever it can, this is done in order to save time while working, but after a while it takes a lot of time to find anything. Thats why you need a disk defrag, which is an application that keeps the hard drive tidy and order saving space and making things work a lot faster, such a program is jkdefrag but one of the benefits of it is that it can operate a a screen saver and work while your not there.
