Slow SSH response
Posted on Wednesday, January 09 @ 13:20:15 IST by admin

Linux OS issues Anonymous writes "I have recently encountered a problem where one of my machines was taking too long to login (the resonse time of ssh is quite fast but the time it takes from password typing stage to the actual sheel is very long).

I have done some research and found several issues you might wanna check in out...

first is first - login to your slow machine and edit the /etc/hosts file so that the IP of the machine is there (not only 127.0.0.1) second, make sure that you hav the
UseDNS no
directie in your sshd file (im working on Fedora so mine is at /etc/ssh/sshd_)config
and last but not least make sure your machine has a DNS server configured in /etc/resolv.conf and if you dont hve a dns server make sure you edit te line:
hosts: files dns
and make it:
hosts: files

in your /etc/nssswitch.conf
