Using an FTP username and password in a browser URL
In some cases it might be needed by a user or an administrator to use a browser to access an FTP server (actually in most cases), the thing is browsers have an automatic anonymous user setting, meaning the browser will default to user anonymous with an e-mail format password (such as user@example.com), this actually saves users who are unfamiliar with browser technologies or FTP sessions the time to enter the username and password for every FTP access they make, the problem arises when anonymous access is disabled or when a specific content for download is not located on the anonymous allowed directory, well there is a solution and as ususal RCT to the rescue

In the early days of WiFi linux users had to manually configure wireless networking issues using the iw* commands (iwconfig, iwspy etc...) which was actually very good as it served it's purpose as it should have and had no problems, but when offering linux as a desktop OS, users may find it a bit tiring to use command line everytime they wish to go online, which I know for a fact drove some users away from linux, wl assistant solves the problem for those users, and on top of that it is also very easy to use and actually a short cut for linux wifi...

theog writes "I have really had it with OEM products!!! every once in a while I encounter rather good products at a very low price. tempted by the low price I buy the product, after a while I need to reformat my workstation or a similar maintenance procedure, then I discover that I lost the driver CD and that the nice product has no real company behind it or at least no real support, so I am left with a great product that doesnt work.... I have decided to contribute my own small contribution to the internet and try and put some of the drivers I encounter on this website."

Bind - creating a subdomain

theog writes "I have recently encountered a need to create a sub domain to one of the domains I manage, googling for it I could not find a proper source of information which will show me the exact lines I need to add in order to have my subdomain operational. To save the time of looking for this information I have written a short article about it."

Sendmail - accepting SMTP connections on an additional tcp port
theog writes "In one of the companys for whih I have done some consulting they have a policy where they drop connections from their internal LAN to internet servers on port 25 (SMTP), the main reason is they had an worm attack where all the internal computers started sending spam mail to outside mail servers, as a result their external IP address has been banned from most known e-mail providers (gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc...) and release or removing the IP is quite a hastle as I myself learned personally.
