Yellow dog updater is a great application that simplifies rpm packages installations on Linux Redhat systems. rather then chasing dependancies and versions, yum doeit all for you, of course open source being open source there are a lot of applications that do so and front ends that come with them but yum for me is simple, does the job, and safe to use.
